Welcome to the virtual tour of the exhibition Simon Hughes: Works, 2001-2020

The tour is complete with interpretive text material and several videos of the artist discussing his work in the exhibition space.

This exhibition was organized by the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives and curated by Sharona Adamowicz-Clements.

About the artist.

Simon Hughes was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1973. He studied art between 1991 and 1996, graduating with a BFA degree from the University of Manitoba School of Art.  In 2007, he resumed his studies and in 2010 received his MFA degree from the University of California at Irvine. An erudite and multi-disciplinary artist, his practice includes drawing and painting, video and film, with an interest in Modernist formal expressions and Surrealist imagery. Hughes has had a number of solo exhibitions in commercial galleries, and has participated in many group shows in Canada, the U.S., Germany, Holland, Switzerland, and France. His work can be found in the public collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. He lives and works in Winnipeg.
