Spheres, Skulls, and Other Icons of the Interior: featuring Colleen Wolstenholme
Introduced by Confederation Centre Art Gallery Curator Pan Wendt, a virtual tour of the exhibition Spheres, Skulls, and Other Icons of the Interior, with commentary by featured artist Colleen Wolstenholme.
About the artist.
Based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where she teaches sculpture at St. Thomas University, Colleen Wolstenholme was trained at NSCAD University and SUNY New Paltz. She is best known as a prominent member of what critic and curator Ray Cronin has called the "Halifax School" of contemporary sculpture, with its focus on iconic representation and critical recontextualization of popular and found imagery. She was a finalist for the very first edition of the Sobey Art Award, and her work is featured in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Her work Spill, which she discusses in today's FIELDTRIP, was recently acquired by the Confederation Centre Art Gallery.
