Find out more about Vikky Alexander's work and her Nordic Rock exhibition during a conversation between the artist, the author Vincent Bonin and the curator Caroline Andrieux. The event will be streamed on YouTube, between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The first version of the series of sculptures that will be the subject of this discussion was conceived in 1988. The series consisted of permutated glass panels placed together to resemble minimalist furniture, summoning a zero degree of the bourgeois interior. The sculptures were shown during the first portion of the 1990s through different configurations in individual and group exhibitions settings, in which they blurred the boundaries separating context and artwork. The discrepancy between the inaugural series, which was presented in the 1980s / 1990s, and the recent version, will be one of the topics of this conversation. Alexander and her interlocutors will address the way in which the artist has produced new readings of her own works of the past in recent years by reprinting them or building them anew with added features. The conversation will also revolve around the artist's murals, which, since the 1980s, have used the register of the decorative to examine social variables of taste in opposition to modernist architecture’s criteria of optical authenticity.
