AGH Artist in Residence: Sylvia Nickerson
Take a FIELD TRIP with the Art Gallery of Hamilton, and join their upcoming Artist in Residence, Sylvia Nickerson, on a virtual journey of her creative process! Sylvia’s exhibition was originally going to be installing at the AGH in the spring but was postponed due to the closure. Sylvia has created these videos as a precursor to her residency beginning on August 22.
About the artist.
Local comics artist, writer, and illustrator Sylvia Nickerson will use her year-long residency within the David Braley and Nancy Gordon Sculpture Atrium as an opportunity to develop content for a new fantasy adult-oriented literary graphic novel exploring the future of artificial intelligence. In addition to leading workshops that examine the major themes of the book, the artist will invite Gallery visitors to alter or add to narrative and illustrative elements, allowing the storymaking process to become a collaborative one. These activities will serve as inspiration for Nickerson’s next graphic novel.
